You used my what?!

Another morning and another dramatic moment in my lovely home!

ASid let me know that he is throwing his toothbrush in the garbage and inquired if we had any new ones to spare. I told him to look under the sink and obviously, he couldn't find the new toothbrushes; I had to step in to help him. First thing I noticed was that my toothbrush was missing from the counter top!! And then I saw it in the garbage bin!!

What?! Why did ASid throw my toothbrush in the garbage?!

Some of you may wonder what my toothbrush is doing in the boys' washroom in the first place?!

So many questions and so much time to answer them all!

I may have mentioned this before. The boys and I love showers and so, the 3 of us use the shower stall in the main bedroom. Craigley is our bath baby and he uses the tub in the boys' washroom. The toothbrushes, mainly Hans' and mine, travel between both the washrooms. That's why my toothbrush was in the boys' washroom. For whatever reason, it is mostly in the boys' washroom.

And now, to answer my own question from a few sentences ago - ASid threw away my toothbrush as it was also his toothbrush!! Craigley couldn't get over how I didn't know that my toothbrush was being used by ASid?! That may be the million dollar question on most intelligent minds. What can I say but this: ASid brushes his teeth at 9:30 pm and I brush my teeth at 11:30 pm; with all the heat that's been on with the cold spring we have been experiencing, the toothbrush was dry as firewood by the time I got to it after ASid had used it! Similar situation in the mornings as well; there is always a considerable gap between our brushing times. I guess I was too busy or too tired to notice.

My first reaction was of total disgust. I shared a toothbrush with a teenage boy who quite often has displayed signs of questionable hygiene ‎in the recent past. My insides did an involuntary movement. I looked at my first born like "how could you do this to me?"; like it is the worst possible act on his part. ASid said, as a matter of fact, something like this, "Sorry Mom! This happened with Dad as well a few weeks ago!" Seriously?! And Craigley has the audacity to wonder how I missed the signs?! And how oblivious is ASid?!

I have an intense desire to label everything now. This revelation has left a bad taste in my mouth...quite literally.

But then on another literal note, this boy of mine partied in my womb for 39 odd weeks and depended on everything that came through my mouth for his survival. Given that big picture, a shared toothbrush should be a non-issue! So, I will give this a rest and move onto a real issue...even if it doesn't exist now, it will show up soon! Till then, keep an eye on those toothbrushes.
